We have just been notified that the highly anticipated Daily Burn iPhone application has just been sent to Apple for review.

A little bit on Daily Burn: Daily Burn is one of the best (actually the best, in my opinion) fitness and nutrition tracking websites. Daily Burn also recently changed their name from Gyminee. So if you heard of Gyminee, then you have “heard” of DailyBurn.

Here are some of the anticipated features (note: photos have been obtained from the Daily Burn blog, so accuracy of screen shots is unknown.)

While Daily Burn actually has a mobile website for the iPhone, it won’t do you any good if you cannot get a signal at your gym. So the application will allow you to do offline logging of your workouts. You’ll also have the ability to view your stats & graphs and search for foods.

The application will be free for poth free & pro Daily Burn accounts. We will post a review as soon as it comes out in the App Store! Happy Tracking!

3.5/5

Habit Check is an application that helps you keep track (and stay on track) of your habits.

Basically you create a Habit that you have by tapping on the “+” button then each day you tap on the habit and then “+1″ if you have done well or “-1″ if not.

By tapping on the blue arrow next to each habit you can view a graph for each of your habits of the course of a month, three months, or even six months.

At the bottom of the Habit list screen displays the threshold, which is the time in which the app allows you to enter a record for you habit. In other words it only allows you to enter one record per habit per day (so you can’t cheat )

If you are in need of an application that allows you to keep track of your habits, then this might be just the app for you. I like the ability (rather the inability) to enter only one record (+1/-1) per habit per day, as this keeps you from cheating your results…quickly at least The graphs are also a nice touch, this way you can see how you are doing over a significant amount of time rather than just the past few weeks. I would like to see the addition of a simple todo task option under each habit. This way users can check off what need to be done to complete that habit. Another thing that would be nice would be screen rotation, as some of the longer habits are cut off do to the width of the screen. I think $2.99 is a little steep for this application, with the addition of more features then I see no problem with paying $2.99 for this.

Fitness Day Journal (iFiness on iPhone icon) is an application that helps you keep track of your fitness activities (exercises) by listing the instances you have done them and visual graphs of your activities

Fitness Day Journal is relatively simple and easy to use. On the main page, at the top is a graph and below it, is the list of your recent activities, most recent at the top. By tapping on the graph, you can rotate through three graphs – Daily Calories within the last month, Weekly Calories within the last year, Daily Calories within the last week.

I noticed that there was a yearly graph, however, if I were to keep track of my activities for a year on this application, there is no way to find one activity out of hundreds of activities completed. Also the graph is horribly small for any discerning ability to be possible.

To enter an activity to tap on the “+” button, the data that was last used will appear in the blacks and can be changed as necessary. I thought this was nice if you tend to do the same activities repeatedly. Also by entering your current weight it will auto estimate the Calories that you burned.

The activity list has hundreds of activities in it (or so it seems, didn’t count them.)
Within the activity panel, besides listing all the activities, there is also a tab for listing your most recent activities.

You can also search the database of activities in order find your activity. Many of the activities also have alternates, meaning there is walking, 2.5 mph and Walking, 3.0 mph or even Walking 3.0 mph, Downhill. So while there are numerous activities, there are just as many options for some.

Overall:
I like the simplicity of the application, but I can’t see anyone using this application for an extended period of time. If you need small activity tracking for a short period of time, this might be the app for you, but if you are looking for something more complex for training, etc. The graphs are simply to hard to read and its simple log, is, well – too simple. With the ability to search your current log and enlarging the graphs or even the ability to customize and activity, this app will have more potential.

More screen shots here.
